BC and Alberta Guide Dogs breeds, raises, and professionally trains Guide Dogs for individuals who are blind or visually-impaired, and Autism Support Dogs for children (ages 3-10) and their families living with moderate to severe autism. Our mission is to meet the growing demand for professionally trained Guide Dogs and Autism Support Dogs for citizens of British Columbia and Alberta, at all times meeting or exceeding international standards as established by the International Guide Dog Federation and Assistance Dogs International. Though often viewed as a dog organization, BC and Alberta Guide dogs is actually an organization about people. When evaluating applicants' suitability for Guide Dog or Autism Support Dog training, we see ability rather than disability. All individual training programs are tailored to the needs of each individual. Our Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers are dedicated to improving the availability of service of Guide Dogs and Autism Support Dogs, including breeding, raising and training more dogs and continuing to give care to dogs that are currently with human partners.
